a major production setback today. i think i probably identify more with the monkey at this particular moment, but certainly at other times i have taken a bite out of my laptop.
what’s the deal with that “made by joel” guy? he’s like a kids craft machine!
this amazing project, which would have taken me about 6 months to pull off, is a “I just made some pop-up puppets with the kids this morning” kind of project for him.
i’ve been reading design sponge for a few years and it definitely falls into the inspiration/torture category described in a previous post. this said, one part of design sponge i have found extremely helpful in our journey towards entrepreneurship is the section of the site titled “biz ladies.” it has loads of useful information drawn from women who have started their own businesses including: tax info, exporting, balance sheets, etc—all the elements that we have limited experience with but desperately need.
plus the pictures make it much easier reading that “the complete canadian small business guide” (which, however, is also an amazing resource)! so, thanks grace from design sponge!
It’s been a traumatic week over here as Ada has finally had to give up the dear precious binky. Someone once told me about a legendary “binky tree” that existed somewhere in Skandinavia and just by coincidence the lovely blog fine little day posted proof in the form of these amazing pictures.
This post by Sadie Stein—about feeling inadequate when faced with the plethora of home decor, craft, perfect children blogs out there—appeared on Jezebel a month or so ago and made me laugh out loud.
“By way of experiment, I attempted to romanticize my own home with a few atmospheric shots…Unfortunately, this was going on two feet away.”
I hate to admit to such feelings but with all the anxiety inherent in starting a business and raising a family (and just living i suppose) I was happy to read that I wasn’t the only one who considered the daily session with my google reader 80% inspiration and 20% torture.
after months and months of frustration we will very soon to have blocks again. really makes you realize the importance of a reliable supply chain, general organizational skills and general the ins and outs of production.
blocks should be available by next week!
in the meantime here’s a lovely song by the amazing kimya dawson.
birthday presents included a jess brown doll (and this awesome flower hat that came from her daycare!) and a framed “marine animals poster” from the lovely sarah of banquet (which was actually bought as a christmas present but finally framed last week)!
this small project (part of the three year old’s birthday) is only one of the reasons i haven’t been posting that much these days. for the two of you who are reading this — i’ll be back at it soon.
